Ruston Hutton was formed when two forward-thinking editors identified a need in the
rapidly changing publishing industry...
A publishing consultant and freelance editor, Jenny Hutton works with a variety of
different clients from the major publishing houses to start-up digital lists. Her
work varies from helping best-selling authors shape their latest manuscripts to discovering
exciting new talent. Previous to this Jenny managed Harlequin’s mainstream women’s
fiction list and the UK publishing strategies of best-selling authors such as Debbie
Macomber and Diane Chamberlain. She has also worked on a wide variety of genre fiction
and, alongside Emily Ruston, has spoken at the RWA, RWOZ and RNA conferences. Her
broad editorial experience encompasses women’s fiction, historical fiction, crime/
thriller, young adult, romance and erotica. Jenny writes contemporary women’s fiction
under the pseudonym Jenny Oliver.
Having worked for a global romance publisher for many years, Emily Ruston is an expert
in series romance. She has edited award-winning genre fiction and has managed the
careers of some of the best-selling writers of romance fiction worldwide. Now, as
a freelance editor and consultant, Emily continues to develop the careers of new
and upcoming authors for other clients. A keen talent spotter, Emily enjoys finding
the diamond in the slush and polishing it. She has worked on romance, crime/ thriller,
erotica, historical and women’s fiction lists. Her passions are reading and her
small chaotic family!
